Christmas Eve

We had our traditional dinner at John and Carol's. It was delicious. Those Freeman's can really cook! As always, Carol had the tables set beautifully and everything was very festive. My parents ate with us too, which made the evening perfect. After dinner the party continued. First, was the live nativity play directed by Carol and performed by the grandchildren. Next, was the slipper gift exchange. Everyone got such fun slippers! Last was the cookie exchange, as if anyone had room in their bellies for cookies. Wow, what a night!

And the Winner is...

Our neighborhood had a house decorating contest and Matt won!! I think he did a fabulous job. Our house seems so festive and really screams Christmas! He spent many hours planning and decorating and it was so worth it.

Ultrasound 12-16-08

We saw the perinatologist yesterday. He measured our little girl and did a heart scan. He said everything looks great! She is weighing in at 1 pound 1 ounce currently. She was all cuddled up with her hands near her face. The dr. said her heart looked excellent. It was amazing to watch, we could see the valves between the chambers open and close. Everything looked so good he actually did not schedule a follow-up appt. We still do not have any names in mind for the little tyke...well, except Kylie's suggestion of Cinderella!

New Color: Cold Pink!

I was dressing Kylie for church and she asked if her dress was pink. I said, "your dress is pink and so are your tights. Your tights have pink polka dots, purple polka dots, and hot pink polka dots." Kylie said, "and cold pink polka dots?"

Too cute!

Ultrasound Picture 12-2-08

I saw my OB on Monday and the specialist on Tuesday. I heard the baby's heartbeat again on Monday, still sounds great. The doctor said everything looks good and that the baby sounds very happy according to her heartbeat. The specialist did a quick ultrasound just for fun to see our little girl. I was really there so he could check my cervix, which he said still measures a normal length. We see the specialist again in 2 weeks for a heart scan and to check her growth.

Keyes Family Photos

We tried to take family pictures for my parent's Christmas letter. Kylie had her own plans, though, so it was hard to get a nice picture. "I runned away," she would say as she darted out of the pictures. She did make friends with a fake deer and was still long enough to get a few photos.

Christmas Tree Cutting

Today was a beautiful day for tree cutting in the Plumas National Forest! We started off with delicious Chorizo burritos from Jimboys and a pink sprinkled doughnut for the munchkin. After only 2 hours of searching and 9 miles on a dirt road we found a tree to bring home. It really is a nice tree, although I feel it might have been happier living out the rest of its life in the forest. But the price was great, only $10 for a tree permit! It was nice to spend the day together as a family. We escaped with only one minor injury.

Kylie thought the chainsaw was too loud.

Next time we will bring a tape measure!

Two Year Old Talk

  • I was giving Kylie a bath on Sunday before church. I had been sitting next to her the whole time on the closed lid of the toilet. She was almost done so I stepped across the hall to look in her closet and pick out something for her to wear. As I left the bathroom, she yelled out, "Mommy, you can't leave me alone in the tub!"

  • Kylie and I were having lunch, I turned to check on her and caught her letting Chevy (our dog) lick her fork. I told her not to let the dog lick her fork and turned back to my food. A few seconds later Kylie asked me, "mommy, do you have a tongue?" I laughed...I told her yes and stuck it out to show her. Her eyes were wide with amazement and she said, "you have a tongue too!"

  • I was getting Kylie out of the bath and she said, "I pooped in the bath." While checking for the "poop" in the bath, I hear Kylie fart. "Oh, you farted in the bath. You are a little farter like daddy" I said. "No, daddy is a BIG farter" Kylie said.

It's a...

Our baby is a girl! Now we can say "she" and "her" instead of "it." The doctor said she was the cutest baby he had seen all day. She was moving around like crazy. She weighs 9 ounces and measures just right for her April 19th due date. We could see her open and close her mouth and move her tongue. She did look very cute!

Halloween Party!!

We had a great turnout this year! Sarah Palin was kind enough to take a night off from campaigning to make an appearance. Also in attendance was gold medalist Michael Phelps. Prisoner Warren Jeffs must have escaped, he was here with the prettiest one of his many, many wives. Cinderella's Fairy Godmother and a coachman came to the party, then they whisked Cinderella away before bedtime. Two unclaimed packages were delivered to the party by UPS, they were labeled, "Halloween Party", so the Bunch of Grapes suggested we, "handle them with care". Matt and I had a great time, we hope everyone else did too!
